The first  MEGHDOOT Post Card of  India issued as on 02.09.2002 on  a film advertisement with  a  photo of Tamil  cinema star  Rajnikant .Features of the postcard   were  unique .  Meghdoot  Postcard  is priced cheaper than normal postcard at  25 paisa instead of normal postcard’s price is 50 paisa.,.50 %  space of Meghdoot postcard is for advertisement on the address side.The Meghdoot postcard is made available for advertisement in 4 colours.Rate of advertisement is 2.00 Rs. per postcard and minimum printing order is 1.00.ooo.Various postal circles of India post are issuing these postcards at their level and this different state governments and departments are using them as an effective tool of spreading message of various welfare schemes and programmes. Till now more than 700 types of Meghdoot postcards have been issued and there is a n exclusive philatelic value of these postcards.
