India-Sri Lanka Stamp Issue  to Honour Anagarika Dharmapala

India Post will issue a commemorative postage stamp on Anagarika Dharmapala on 25th October 2014.Infact it is a joint stamp issue of India and Sri Lanka.Its the first joint stamp issue of India with any SAARC country.Sri Lanka issued stamp on 150th Birth Anniversary of Anagarika Dharmapala last week.The stamp was designed by Isuru Chaturanga, the Rs. 10.00 value stamp was issued in Sri Lanka by President Mahinda Rajapaksa .The 20 mm.x 50 mm sized stamps are printed by the Department of"angarika Government Printing .According to sources Indian stamp on Anagarika Dharmapala will be released by the President Pranab Mukherjee .Sri Lanka issued a stamp in 1954 also on the occasion of birth centenary of Anagarika Dharmapala

President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared the year from September 17, 2014 – September 17, 2015 as the Anagarika Dharmapala commemorative year in honour of the late Dharmapala, the brave and vibrant social reformer, who championed the cause of Buddhism and spearheaded a struggle for national awakening at a time when the country was under Colonial rule. The President made this declaration at an event to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Anagarika Dharmapala .
