New Stamps of Pakistan

 Islamia College Centenary

The Pakistan Post is releasing a commemorative postage stamp of Rs8 denomination on completion of the 100 years of Islamia College, Peshawar.

 The stamp has been designed by Adil Salahuddin (Sitara-e-Imtiaz/Pride of Performance) and printed by Pakistan Security Printing Corporation, Karachi.The commemorative postage stamp will be available for sale from May 30.A special postmark will be used to service the fist day of issue cover at the Philatelic Bureau, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Khairpur, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Peshawar, Post Mall Gulberg Lahore, Quetta, general post offices (GPOs) and National Philatelic Bureau Islamabad.

Pioneers of Freedom:Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi v

Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V who was Amir (King) of Bhawalpur State from 1907 to 1966.He had acceded his state to the then dominion of Pakistan in 1947. His works in rehabilitation of refugees after independence are exemplary and are highly regarded by the entire nation of Pakistan.

Zamir Jaffery

Secretary Ministry of Postal Services Muhammad Javaid Iqbal Awan releases a commemorative postage stamp of worth Rs 8/- for eminent poet Syed Zamir Jaffery here"sayd at the Auditorium of Pakistan Academy of Letters. He said that about 1,500 postal stamps have been issued by Pakistan since independence, out of which 250 stamps belongs to notable personalities of the country.  Notable writers Masud Mufti presided the meeting; he said Syed Zamir Jaffery was a legend poet and writer of his time and commended the efforts of postal services. The son of Syed Zamir Jaffery, Major General (R) Ehtesham Zamir, Dr Inaam ul Haq Javaid, Sarfraz Shahid, Farheen Chaudhry, Mian Azhar and eminent writer Colonel Ashfaq Hussain also spoke on the occasion.

Postage Stamp Exhibition at Islamabad

Islamabad:Ministry of Postal Services will organise a three-day national stamps exhibition at Pakistan National Council of the Art (PNCA) from June 24 to 26 to promote philately in the country and abroad.Pakistan Post’s additional Director General (Operations) Fazli Sattar Khan told this news agency that preparation for the mega event are in full swing.

He said that philatelists from all over the country will participate in the national level event.He said that during the recent meeting of Philatelic Advisory Committee, it was decided to review the philately policy, adding that tentative schedule for 2014 was also discussed in the meeting.
