India started releasing commemorative stamps on Children’s day from 1957.
In the year 1957 itself 3 stamps were released on 14th November to commemorate the day.
Photographs of children or paintings made by children are the main themes of these stamps.
In 1964 Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru’s photograph was printed on children’s day stamp.
Over the years some miniature sheets have also been released on children’s day.
Childrens day stamps in India now need a fresh look as modern day children do need a representation on postal stamps as well.
