In November 1901, Sheikh Muabarak as-Sabah asked Britain to open an Indian post office in Kuwait. Since that time postal services in Kuwait were connected with India. Stamps at that time were of George the Fifth, King of England and Emperor of India.
Stamps used in Kuwait were the same as the one’s circulated in India.
The Postmark differed, however, showing the date and place of origin. That system continued till 1923,when the first collection of Indian stamps bearing the name of Kuwait was printed which were still in use till the first of April 1948.
