Thiruvananthapuram: The state branch of Indian Red Cross Society would soon bring out stamps, in a bid to mobilize funds. The state government has accorded sanction to print and sell 30 lakh 10-rupee stamps. The decision has been taken to save the state branch of the society which has been facing severe financial crunch.”The stamps would be sold through school students and members of the society,” said Sunil C Kurian, chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Kerala state branch.The government sanction comes with certain conditions. The number of stamps to be printed shall not exceed 30 lakhs. It has been directed to provide monthly statement of accounts of stamps printed and sold to the health department. The society would have to submit a report to the health department on the amount collected and utilized together with audited statement of accounts not later than August 15 this year.(Source-TOI)
