New Stamps Released from Sweden

King Carl Gustaf and  Queen Silvia 2016

sweden-king-and-queen-stampsAs you may know, Carl XVI Gustaf’s motto is “For Sweden – With the Times”. While working on the current portrait stamps of the King and Queen, the Swedish Court and PostNord discussed the design of the stamps in detail, with this motto as a key starting point. These discussions eventually resulted in a design and color scheme that are an exciting, innovative reflection of the King’s motto.

Another similarity between the current portrait stamps and the issue in January 2015 is the King’s and Queen’s monogram, respec- tively, used as a pattern. A special silver color has been used in the background. Decorative, but also a security detail that makes forgery more difficult.
