Israel Issued Stamp on Casualties of War and Terror Appreciation Day

israel-war-stampIn July 2014, the government of Israel announced that the Hebrew calendar date 17 Kislev shall be recognized as the annual Casualties of War and Terror Appreciation Day.

The date set for this day, 17 Kislev, is the date on which the United Nations General Assembly declared an end to the British Mandate in Eretz Israel and the establishment of the Jewish State (November 29, 1947). The selection of this date symbolizes the connection between the circumstances of the soldiers’ and civilians’ injuries and the establishment of Israel and ensuring of its security.
