Philippines Issued Duterte Inauguration Stamp

philippines stampPhilippines has issued a commemorative stamp marking the inauguration of the country’s 16th president that took place last June 30.The 71-year-old Duterte is the country’s oldest Chief Executive and the only one from Mindanao.Despite his tough talk and at times brash manner, Duterte won the May 9 presidential race by a landslide, garnering 16,601,997 votes.Stamp was released on 1st August 2016.

It has been part of PhlPost’s tradition to issue a stamp whenever there is a new president. It is the agency’s way of recording the historic event. Aside from Duterte, there are five other persons seen on the stamp, including his four children: Sara Carpio, Davao City mayor; Paolo, the city vice mayor; Sebastian, who stood behind him; and youngest daughter Veronica, who held the Bible.
