Japan is Issuing Stamps to Honor Olympians at Rio

japan rio 2016 stampsJapan is honoring all Japanese gold medalists at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with commemorative postage stamps.

The first set of stamps was issued on 8th August 2016 to mark Kosuke Hagino’s victory in the 400-meter individual medley race.A total of 1,000 sheets of commemorative stamps went on sale at Tokyo Central Post Office. A sheet of five 82-yen stamps is priced at 1,400 yen ($13.73), including tax.

Japan Post plans to issue sheets of commemorative postage stamps as soon as Japanese Olympians and Paralympians win gold medals. They will go on sale at Tokyo Central Post Office at noon the next day.Sheets of stamps will also be available at the central post office in the gold medalist’s hometown.
