On July 1, Norfolk Island become a regional council of the Australian state of New South Wales on 1st July 2016.The territory now stopped releasing its stamps and ceased postal service. Last stamp of Norfolk Islands was released on 7th June 2016. This single $5 stamp in a souvenir sheet commemorates the 160th anniversary of the landing of the Pitcairners on Norfolk. The first stamps from Norfolk Island were issued in 1947 .Australian stamps are now valid on the island, and Australia Post will issue separate stamps with a “Norfolk Island, Australia” inscription, similar to its stamps for the Australian Antarctic Territory, Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
