500 Years of the Passage of the Thurn & Taxis Postal Route
The first postal routes were born from the necessity to exchange messages among the royal, imperial and pontifical courts. Since the 15th century, the Taxis family was known for its couriers and message service officers. Following a convention signed in 1516 between the family and Charles V., the Netherlands – Germany – Italy postal route even passed through the north of Luxembourg probably with a postal relay at Hoffelt. A document dated 19 July 1520 makes mention of this.Thurn and Taxis Mailing Route, a philatelic event on 18 June in Asselborn (L) and Arzfeld (G).

10 years of meng.post.lu
The personalised stamps of meng.post.lu, launched on 13 May 2006 at the time of the Spring Fair, met immediate success. Major improvements occurred since, specially the one that made the stamps self-adhesive. For the current version, appearing on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of meng.post.lu, the 10. May 2016, the size of the personalisation has once again been increased. The subjects represented on the stamps are our friends, the pets. We actually find cats and dogs most often.
The Games of the XXXI Olympiad of Rio
The COSL “Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois” (Olympic and Sports Committee of Luxembourg) just launched a new brand for all Luxembourgian sports fans: the “Team Lëtzebuerg”. The COSL unveiled its brand new logo, which consists of three distinctive elements – the red lion, the “Team Lëtzebuerg” signature, and the five intertwined Olympic rings – reflecting the passion for sports as well as a new team spirit.Issue Date: 10.05.2016
