Somebody has said very correctly, “Marne Wale Se Bachana Wala Zyada Takatwar Hota Hai!” In 1956, when India won Hockey final in Melbourne Olympics against Pakistan for the first time and completed Independent India’s 1st & only Golden Olympic Hatrick, the event was commemorated in different ways by different countries. one of the countries was Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic felicitated the event, though not a party to the game by releasing a commemorative stamp on 30th October,1958. The image of the stamp is self explanatory and the details of players of both teams are also given with their respective positions on the ground. When an unconnected & unconcerned country can commemorate the event, shouldn’t the country which was & is, directly affected, commemorate the diamond jubilee year of this historic moment of Indian Olympic history. 1956 Melbourne Olympic games was played on Thursday, 6th Dec 1956 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India Post has already created milestones by issuing stamps at a short notice. In thIs case, India Post has almost 6 months at its disposal & there is no doubt the potential of India Post. It can turn the table once it decides to.
