Australia will Issue Stamp on Story Bridge

story bridge stampThis stamp issue pays tribute to the design and construction of this vital form of transportation infrastructure. The Story Bridge, designed by the same architect of the Sydney Harbour Bridge John Bradfield, was constructed in the late 1930s and opened in 1940. This key development allowed the increasing city traffic to cross the wide Brisbane River between Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point.The Story Bridge is probably the most significant and recognised landmark in Brisbane, aside from the Old Windmill in Wickham Park, according to Brisbane historian Dr Jack Ford.
