The Irish Heart Foundation is the national charity fighting heart disease and stroke, funded 92 per cent by public donations. Its vision is that every person living in Ireland will live a long, active and healthy life free from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease.Despite medical advances cardiovascular disease is still the biggest cause of early death in Ireland. Each year approximately 10,000 people die from coronary heart disease, stroke and other circulatory diseases. Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in Ireland, accounting for 32% of all deaths. The largest number of these deaths relate mainly to heart attack at 5,000.
