Bahrain Issued Six Stamps to mark First Dinar

bahrain stampsBahrain issued six new commemorative stamps to mark the 50th anniversary of the first Bahraini dinar. The stamps feature a portrait of His Majesty King Hamad and are available from all post offices for 300 fils, while a souvenir sheet costs BD2.500 as does first-day covers.Released in 1965 after the establishment of the Bahraini Currency Board the year before, the new Bahraini dinar replaced the Gulf rupee on the basis of one new dinar for every 10 old rupees.
