Cayman Islands : Christmas Stamps

cayman islands christmas stampsThe Cayman Islands Postal Service earlier this month released a new stamp issue which features, for the first time, the artistic expressions of Cayman’s students, in a series themed, “What does Christmas in the Cayman Islands mean to you?”  Participating students had to be between six and 18 years old and attend school in the Cayman Islands. Entries had to be drawn on a blank piece of 8.5 x 11 paper, and be colourful and representative of the Islands. For example, no snow drawings were considered.  The four-image stamp series, with 20¢, 25¢, 75¢, and 80¢ denominations and a first-day cover, depict the winning designs of Zara Garofalo, Arianna Anglin, Samruddhi Tagalpallewar and Cerys Martin, all of St Ignatius Catholic School, and Clementine Bonnie Lumsden of Cayman Prep and High School.
