India Post Issued Stamp on Hindi Poet Sumitranandan Pant

sumitranandan pantIndia Post has today issued a commemorative postage stamp on noted hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant.Pant was born at Kausani (Uttrakhand) on 20th May 1900.He is considered one of the major poets of the Chhayavad   school of Hindi literature. His native house is situated in the lap of the Himalayas.

sumitranandan pant stampPant was the first Hindi poet to receive the Jnanpith Award in 1968.  The Indian Government honored him with Padma Vibhushan.

Pant’s childhood house, in Kausani, has been converted into a museum. I visited this museum last year .This museum displays his daily use articles, drafts of his poems, letters, his awards, etc.sumitranandan pant brochure
