finland crafts stampsCraft Art is a miniature sheet with the aim of boosting public appreciation of crafts. The sheet is the result of a proposal submitted to Finland Post by the Finnish Crafts Organisation Taito ry, the Association of Craft Teachers TOL ry and the Association of Technology Teachers TAO ry. The miniature sheet was designed by Aamu Song and Johan Olin, who together make up the designer-artist partnership COMPANY. The stamp set depicts products made of many different materials, representing both traditional and more recent craft techniques. The miniature sheet spotlights various techniques as well as traditional, more industrial manufacture. Many of the works show collaboration between manufacturers and designers. The craft products featured on the stamps are Rose Socks and Grandmother’s Square by Tuula Kunnas, Birch Bark Handbag by Auli Vasara, and Dancing Shoes and Porcini Stool by COMPANY. The spaces between the stamps on the sheet are filled with drawings that illustrate different craft techniques.
