A joint project of the Philippine Postal Office and SM Aura Premier, the launch showcased the winning design of the Asean Stamp Design Competition held in Thailand. Held in preparation for the 48th anniversary of Asean, the winning design was selected by a panel of judges comprised of 10 postal representatives from 10 member countries, and three judges from the Universal Postal Union, the Asian-Pacific Postal Union and the Asean Secretariat.

The winning entry from Vietnam highlights the region’s unity and cooperation. It shows the 10 flags of Asean Members unified in a form of flower, with a pigeon symbol in the background to show the pacific aspect of the region. On the lower level of the flags, there is a handshake, which portrays friendship, and golden rice flowers, which symbolize agricultural activities and the main Asean way of life. The design was produced as a joint issue stamp to be used throughout the Asean region in 2015.
