australia lighthouses stampsAustralia has issued a set of four stamps to  commemorate 100 years of Commonwealth management of lighthouses . The Australian continent and islands have 59,735 kilometres of coastline and countless potential hazards that created the need for manned beacons warning mariners of potential dangers. Even today, despite satellite navigation systems, all Australian lighthouses are now automated and operational.

The stamps feature Cape Byron Lighthouse, New South Wales; Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, Western Australia; North Reef Lighthouse, Queensland; and Tasman Island Lighthouse, Tasmania. The issue was unveiled and put on sale on the 1st of July.

Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015

australia netball stampThe stamp issue that celebrates Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 (NWC2015), which will be held from 7 to 16 August 2015 at Sydney Olympic Park.The top 16 netball nations from around the globe will compete over 10 days for international netball’s ultimate prize. The issue has been already unveiled and is due to be put into circulation on the 4th of August.

The four-yearly event, held since 1963, is a celebration of the sport of netball, which is the most popular women’s team sport in Australia. NWC2015 marks the second time that Sydney has hosted the tournament, the last being in 1991, and the third time for Australia.
