Malaysia Issues Endangered Marine Species Stamp Collection

malaysia marine speciesPos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) will issue a stamp collection featuring four endangered marine species. Pos Malaysia acting group chief executive officer Azlan Shahrim said the collection, the first of its kind ever produced in Malaysia, would be on sale at all post offices nationwide on Monday. He hoped that the 50,000 stamp sheets would draw attention to the plight of the endangered Humpback Whale, Knifetooth Sawfish, Blue Whale and Killer Whale.malaysia marine species miniature sheet

“We have produced a total of 430,000 pieces of individual postage stamps that will travel around the world and convey the importance of biodeversity sustainability,” he said in a statement here Friday. The highlight of this special issue will be the miniature sheet featuring the octagon-shaped humpback whale stamp with silver foil stamping to outline 3-D image look, priced at RM5 each.

malaysia fdcAzlan said apart from the miniature sheet, three 40mm x 30mm regular sized stamps featuring the knifetooth sawfish, blue whale and killer whale were available at 60sen, 80 sen and RM1.40 each respectively. First Day Covers will also be available on the first day of the stamp issuance at 50 sen each and RM3.30 with a stamp set, RM5.50 with a miniature sheet set, while the folder is priced at RM6 each and RM75.80 for the complete set. The stamps were designed by Hazel Design Sdn Bhd and printed in New Zealand by Southern Colour Print.
