Austria Issued Stamp on 650 Years of University of Vienna

vienna university stampThe Austrian Post has commemorate the largest and oldest university in the German-speaking with a special stamp on this anniversary. Inspired by the Sorbonne in Paris, Duke Rudolph IV. The Founder on March 12, 1365, the “Alma Mater Rudolphina Vindobonensis”, the University of Vienna. Although it would take up to a regulated teaching another 20 years, but the university has established itself and grew to become the largest university of the Holy Roman Empire. Today the University of Vienna comprises approximately 92,000 students and 9,700 employees and 19 faculties and centers. The Jubilee 2015 is celebrated with various activities, the importance of university research and the exchange will play a special role with international partners. It will also provide the occasion to review and perspective, and not least invite to celebrate.
