Philippines Issued Stamp on National Artist Avellana

philippines national artist stampThe Philippine Postal Corp. will issue this month a new set of stamps marking the birth centenary of National Artist for Theater and Film Lamberto Avellana.Avellana’s birthdate on Feb. 12, 1915 are also meant to celebrate National Arts Month in February. “Avellana was the first to use the motion picture camera to establish a point-of-view, a move that revolutionized the techniques of film narration. The commemorative stamp will have a denomination of P10, and about 65,000 were printed by Amstar Co. Inc.Its design was coordinated by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
