A Tribute to Gandhiji by UNPA

\"gandhiBy Dr.Pradeep Jain

Few days back I received this packet from UN headquarter New york for my Tajmahal items. It was very thrilling to see this packet affixed with variety of stamps of philatelic interest. They have used stamps of Gandhiji along with UN headquarters building stamp as well as stamp containing the logo of UN.Whenever we dispatch any packet or cover to any philatelist we should use commemorative stamps for promotion of philately. Actually in routine use also at least this habit will make the used commemorative stamps for collection.

A good suggestion by Dr. Jain. “Whenever we dispatch any packet or cover to any philatelist we should use commemorative stamps for promotion of philately. Actually in routine use also at least this habit will make the used commemorative stamps for collection.” But practically perhaps not possible. PhilaMirror readers have complained about non-availability and non-receipt of commemoratives. Secondly, most collectors buy just a few pieces. Third, if they use the commemoratives for postage purposes addressed to themselves only, there is no guarantee that the envelope would reach them. Ultimately, the collector only loses.

  2. Thanks Mirzaji, to promote philately postal dept should put only commemo. stamps for promotion of philately. The purpose of all commemorative stamps is to promote that theme or personality to commonmen which is only possible by this method. In present senario stamps goes to phila beauro to albums of philatelists.Public never comes across those pieces of colored papers.

Thanks to Mirzaji and Pradeep ji

It is a fact that now commemorative stamps are rare to collect as less quantity available at post office and computerization process make the process easier without postal stamps. But it can be achieved by personal interest to promote philately.
