New Irish Stamp Released on Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney

 \"irishIreland  has issued a stamp celebrating the life of Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney to mark the first anniversary of his passing. The stamp was released On 28th August 2014.

Seamus Heaney was a poet, playwright, translator and lecturer, winner of the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature and one of Ireland’s greatest and most respected writers. The 68c commemorative stamp features John Minihan’s black and white portrait of the poet and is complemented by a special ‘First Day Cover’ envelope featuring an extract from his 1969 poem, “Bogland”.Seamus’ son Michael said his family are “immensely moved” by An Post’s decision to mark the poet’s memory.Co Derry-born Heaney was 74 when he died on August 30, 2013.
