Canada Issued Stamp on Ottawa\’s Football Heritage

\"canadaThe past and present of Ottawa\’s football heritage are coming together in a new set of postage stamps.Canada Post is issuing a pair of new stamps to commemorate the CFL\’s return to the nation\’s capital this season.Former Rough Riders star quarterback Russ Jackson is featured on one stamp against the background of Ottawa\’s newly renovated TD Place Stadium.Jackson, a Hamilton native, spent his entire 12-year CFL career with the Riders and led them to Grey Cup victories in 1960, 1968 and 1969.The other stamp depicts the logo of the Redblacks, Ottawa\’s new CFL team which plays its first regular-season game July 3 at Winnipeg.\”The return of CFL football to our nation\’s capital is an historic moment for our league,\” CFL commissioner Mark Cohon said Thursday in a statement. \”Capturing its significance through commemorative stamps is an honour and another indication that the dream of returning CFL football to Ottawa is a reality.\”
