R.K.Mishra Passed Away :Loss to Philatelic World

Philatelic world in general n Philatelic fraternity in Patna particularly suffered a jolt on account of sudden demise of Late R.K.Mishra. Ex employee was of State Bank of India who was very active n vibrant in the philatelic circle in Bihar n Jharkhand has left for his heavenly abode after a brief spell of sickness. I can recount my days in Panta n recollect how active he was in Stamp Expo2012. He was full of novel ideas n creativity n had a nack n niche for analytic approach towards each n every detail of philately. Besides being n innovative philatelist full of original ideas, he was a very kind hearted human being. He was always ready to help n guide new philatelists whom he will support n guide besides encouraging them. I cannot remember any exhibition complete without his active participation n support. The last exhibition which could see the light of day was recently concluded Philatelic Exhibition in Jamshedpur. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family n we all prey to Almight to allow his soul to rest in peace.Long Live Phila World n long live Late Mishra ji.

    How sad!
I was a beneficiary of his kind guidance.
I remember how kindly he has sent me some beautiful cancellations in post cards from Patna. Many has promised but only he has fulfilled.

Therefore I pray to almighty to fulfill his desire by giving this noble departed soul a place in Lotus feet and give strength to his near and dear one to bear this great loss.

It pained me to learn about the sad demise of Shri R.K. Mishra. I never met him but we were in touch through personal correspondence. He always admired my writings and I acknowledged with my sincere appreciation his contributions to the PhilaMrror. His contributions were many and indeed inspiring.

Perhaps his One frame from Indian Cinema on May 04, 2012 was instrumental in India Post releasing commemoratives on 100 years of Indian Cinema a year later on May 03, 2013. The frame included all the 12 the film industry legends – Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, Nargis, Madhu Bala, Gemini Ganeshan, T.N. Ramarao, Satyajit Ray, Vimal Roy, L.V. Prasad, S.D. Burman, K.L. Sehgal and Muhammad Rafi – on whom commemoratives were issued. It hadone non-Indian legend Charlie Chaplin. The exhibit also included two issues on 75 & 100 years on Indian Cinema.

Mishraji’s contribution on special first day issues on definitive series yet cannot be ignored.

His latest and the most unforgettable contribution on Fasting Buddha from Pakistan may lead to a joint issue both from India and Pakistan on a mutually agreed subject.

Philatelists help philately live in a fascinating way. Mishra Saheb was one of those who fascinated both – the Philately and the philatelists. May his soul rest in peace.
