“Year Book of Indian Philately” by Madan Middha of Gwalior has won a Large Vermeil at the recently concluded state philatelic exhibition “MAPPEX 2013”. The exhibition was organised by India Post from 19th to 21st December 2013 at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A total of 6 Large Vermeil, 5 Vermeil, 11 Large Silver, 9 Silver, 12 Silver Bronze, 8 Bronze and 20 Diplomas were awarded to participants. Large Vermeil was the highest medal awarded by the jury of the show. One of the 6 Large Vermeils awarded went to the Year Book, a literature entry. This is a new high for any Literature entry to be among the highest award winner at an official philatelic exhibition.
Philatelic literature in India is scaling new heights. Earlier at the National Philatelic Exhibition INPEX 2013, another literature entry was awarded a Vermeil, which, again, was a first. This signifies the importance and level of the philatelic literature being created in India in recent times. Incidentally, The Year Book of Indian Philately also holds a record of winning a medal at EVERY philatelic show it has participated in, including Internationals and “Literature Exclusive” shows.
