Kalpana Chawla Harrison (1962-2003) died on February 1,2003 and the ‘PATPEX 2003 Patna’ special cover on her was released on March 28,2003. So the cover was released posthumously.

This is an excellent move. I have written in newspapers that we should honour living Men of Achievements like master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Its an acknowledgement of his contribution to cricket. Some years ago I had even written to ministers like Sharad Pawar – a Maharashtrian like me – to suggest to the Indian Postal authorities to issue commemorative on Sachin Tendulkar when he became top test cricket scorer but nothing was done. Honouring a living personality has its own charm and brings us both respect and honour. I hope India Post will not stop here and continue its march with at least 10-15 commemoratives on living Indian or of Indian origin legends

If you go through the stamps, Vishwesharaya, Moter Teresa, Rajiv Gandhi(1984), Captain Laxmi like more than five personalities will get on Indian Postage stamps. And on Special cover Amithab Bachan(Ahmedabad cover), Sri Sri Ravi Shankar etc.. also are there.
