Austria Issued Stamp on Lorenzo Lotto

\"austriaAustria has issued a stamp under Old Master series on the artwork of the great Italian painter Lorenzo Lotto. The painting featured on the stamp is “Madonna and Child with Saints Catherine and Thomas” (sacra conversazione) located in Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum Of Fine Arts).

Lorenzo Lotto (c.1480–c.1557) was a Northern Italian painter, draughtsman and illustrator, traditionally placed in the Venetian school. He painted mainly altarpieces, religious subjects and portraits. While he was active during the High Renaissance, his nervous and eccentric posings and distortions represent a transitional stage to the first Florentine and Roman Mannerists of the 16th century.

Among the most famous works of the painter are “Madonna with Child, St. Peter of Verona and Donor”, “Young Man against a White Curtain”, “Adoration of the Child “, “Portrait of a Gentleman with Lion Paw”, “Madonna and four Saints”.
