Belarus Issued Souvenir Sheet on 400th Anniversary of Preservation of the Icon of the Mother of God in Budslau

\"belarusThe miraculous icon of the Mother of God is one of the most worshipped catholic icons in Belarus. It is placed in the Roman Catholic Church of Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Budslau of Miadzel district, Minsk region.In 2013 Catholics celebrate the 400th anniversary of preservation of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God in Budslau.

The icon was painted in oil on canvas sized 72×65 sm. Its iconography belongs to the West-European Hodegetria type. The icon\’s frame is made in the early 17th century. In 1998 the icon was solemnly crowned by Cardinal Kazimir Sviontak.
