\"iomWith a long and honourable history, the Island’s Service currently employs 167 fire-fighters, (over fifty full-time based at Douglas Fire Station and Fire HQ in Onchan) and more than one hundred retained fire-fighters based at Douglas, Laxey, Ramsey, Kirk Michael, Peel, Port Erin and Castletown fire stations. There are also four civilian staff who are based at Fire Service Headquarters in Onchan.Traditionally, the Service has been recognized for providing a rapid response to the ever increasing range of emergencies to which it’s called; be they fires, flooding, road traffic collisions, industrial accidents or chemical spillages etc.Date of Issue:20 February 2013
