Ireland:New Stamp on Council of EU

\"irelandIreland has issued a stamp to mark Ireland\’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU). . The stamp was designed by Steve Simpson. The stamp is based on the logo for Ireland\’s Presidency, which was selected by a public vote.Ireland\’s term of presidency runs from January 1 to June 30, 2013 and is the seventh time that Ireland has assumed this role. During the Presidency, Irish Ministers will chair many significant meetings with their fellow EU Ministers in Brussels and in Ireland.

The Irish Government will deliver on a range of legislation and other work which will impact on the lives of 500 million EU citizens.2013 will also mark the 40th anniversary of Ireland\’s accession to the EU, previously known as the European Economic Community
