The Madras Christian College, founded in 1837, was celebrated its 17th Year in 2012 with the motto \”Celebrating History, Servicing Humanity\’. The mission of the institution is \’academic excellence, spiritual vitality and social relevance\’.
K.R. BIRTH CENTENARY – K. RAMAMURTHY
K. Ramamurthy was born on 8-8-1912 in Tiirunelveli, Tamilnadu. He was the Secretary General of UPTW and also the Secretary General of Central Government Employees Union Federation. K. Ramamurthy was the architect of the NFPTE and was the founder of FNPTO. He tendered evidence before all the five Pay Commissions. K. Ramamurthy was nominated as member of P & T Joint Committee of the ILO in 1984. In fine K. Ramamurthy was an embodiment of staunch Unionist and a true Nationalist.
VALLIAMMAL COLLEGE FOR WOMEN – SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
Valliammal Educational Trust was founded in 1968 by an eminent Tamil Writer and an able academician, Thiru. A. M. Paramasivanandam in the name of his mother Tmr. Valliammal. Under the Valliammal Educational Trust, Valliammal College for Women was established in 1987 keeping the objective of imparting quality higher education to women. Spanning a glorious quarter century, the college could create the niche in the educational arena and wishes to add a feather to the cap of success of Valliammal and records the moments of achievement by releasing a special postal cover.
THULIR – CHILDREN\’S SCIENCE MAGAZINE – SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION
Tamilnadu Science Forum is voluntary organization committed to science population. It was started in the year 1980 with the association of scientists and science enthusiasts of Chennai. It has grown with an organizational network covering all the districts of Tamilnadu. Since inception, it has developed numerous modules and activities for Science communication and popularization.
One among them is THULIR, a science magazine in Tamil started by TNSF in the year 1987. At a time when pure science magazines are out of interest in the society, especially those addressing children. Thulir sustains magically with support of the entire children and teacher community. We are proud to say that Thulir is the only science magazine for children in Tamil. It is remarkable that Thulir continuous to be published without a break for the past 25 years.
