Christmas and New Year Stamps


\"maltaOrder of Malta has issued two Christmas stamp booklets. The first one illustrates the Iconography of the Magi by Niccolo Carlone called \”Procession of the Magi to Bethlehem\”. The original painting is exposed in Cappella dei Mercanti, Turin, Italy. The booklet reproduces the painting in its entirety, in the original frame. The ˆ 2.00 stamps illustrates the figures of bystanders and the ˆ 2,20 stamp shows the Magi.

The second booklet is called Christmas 2012 and has as subject the painting by El Greco \”Adoration of the Shepherds\”, exposed in the Museum del Prado in Madrid, Spain. The ˆ 1.40 value stamp illustrates angels and the ˆ 2.50 stamp features the figures of Madonna and Child.


\"ukraineUkraine issued two stamps celebrating Christmas and New Year. The stamps feature a traditional celebration of these holidays in Ukrainian village with local treating and entertainment. The stamps were designed by Olena Levska.


\"croatiaThe stamp features drawing by the winner of the New Year stamp design contest among Croatian children. This year\’s winner is the depiction by Sara Saravanja, a 7th form pupil from Slavonski Brod.
