Namibia: New Stamps Launched for Gobabeb\’s 50th Anniversary

\"\"Namibia Post Limited (NamPost) launched a new set of stamps during an open day celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Gobabeb Training and Research Centre on 22nd Sep 2012.The facility, located about 120 kilometres south-east of Walvis Bay, conducts training courses and aims to improve public awareness and knowledge of dry land ecology and environmental issues. The acting CEO explained that since its inception, Gobabeb has been contributing to the \”infinite process of scientific discovery\”.The commemorative stamp issue features visuals of three of the centre\’s well-known research subjects – dune grass, the flying saucer beetle, and the Namaqua chameleon – all against the backdrop of the Namibian Desert.
