New Czech Stamps on Orchids

\"\"Czech post issued a set of stamps on 5th Sep 2012 with title- Beauty of Orchids. The stamps feature exotic orchids originating from foreign locations. This is the first time in the history of Czechoslovak and Czech design that this motif has been chosen for a stamp.

The orchid family is a diverse and widespread family of flowering plants with colourful and fragrant blooms. Along with the Asteraceae, it is one of the two largest families of flowering plants, with between 21,950 and 26,049 currently accepted species, found in 880 genera.Many of these growers have joined the Czech Orchid Society, which has celebrated on 31 July 2011 already the 125th anniversary of its foundation. The Czech Orchid Society also provided the orchids used as model for the entire sheet. Growing of exotic orchids has a long tradition in the Czech Republic.Denominations: 62 CZK
