The third set of stamps for 2012 went on sale 6 September in Swiss post offices, with pop art and nature as the subjects. They range in value from CHF0.45 to CHF2. Available online and at post offices.Peter Stämpfli, Switzerland’s renowned pop artist, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the genre, which dates back to Andy Warhol’s “Campbell Soup Can”.His three stamps use James Bond as the theme.Another new stamp honours the animal of the year 2012, the brown long-eared bat, with a special design. The stamp is perforated and has the shape of a bat. The double print also creates a three-dimensional effect and makes the bat stamp appear lifelike to the human eye.The 19th century Swiss post office featured three stamps to celebrate the country’s largest cities, Zurich, Basel and Geneva. The stamps were in circulation for 10 years and now Swiss Post has decided to repeat the theme, with three new city stamps.
