Malaysia Issued ‘Underwater Life’ Stamps

Malaysia issued a set of stamps on marine life on 21st March 2012.This is the first time Pos \"\"Malaysia is featuring both aquatic flora and fauna in the limited edition stamps and philatelic items with an “Underwater Life” theme.“This stamp collection features a total of seven species of underwater animals,” said head of the stamp and philately department Yasmin Ramli at a press preview.

Each 40mm x 30mm stamp costs 60sen. There are four pictures and when the stamps are put together they create another picture.A First Day Cover stamp sheet with the four stamps and an envelope costs RM2.90.The First Day Cover (135mm x 70mm) miniature sheet depicting sea animals which costs RM5.50 is printed in iridescent ink to prevent forgery.“This printing method is used mostly in bank notes,” said Yasmin.A full folder set, inclusive of one four-stamp sheet and miniature sheet.
