Latvia to Issue Stamps Featuring Tree Frog, Kiang and Lion

Latvijas Pasts plans to release a new series of stamps dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Riga Zoo, depicting a tree frog, a kiang and a lion, Latvijas Pasts\’s public relations officer \"\"Zane Plone told the business portal. The three animals are important symbols of Riga Zoo\’s development the past 100 years, which is why they are the ones to be depicted on the stamps dedicated to the anniversary which will be released in April. The stamp design is by Ludis Danilans, informs LETA.The company explains that the lion will be one of the main symbols of the new series, because it is the animal that all zoo visitors wish to see. The tree frog and the kiang, on the other hand, have a special place in the history of the Riga Zoo.The inclusion of the European tree frog and the kiang in the series is a tribute to the Riga Zoo projects aimed at preservation of the species.Altogether, Latvijas Pasts plans to issue 26 new stamps this year.

    My kudos to Latvia’s commemmorative issuance of 100 years of the Riga Zoo. Featuring the three residents of the zoo, is such an honor to these living creatures that gives enjoyment to the visitors of the zoo for the last 100 years. Congratulations!
