He was internationally renowned in the field of social service for his exemplary work towards rehabilitation and empowerment of people afflicted with leprosy.The work of Baba Amte has been recognized and honoured on national and international platforms by distinguished institutions like government of India, United Nations, Ramon Magsaysay Foundation and Templeton foundation.
