Special Cover Released on Heritage Landmark\’s of Kozhikode

The Philatelic Club of Calicut and The Numismatic Society Kozhikode organised a three day \”FESTIVAL OF COINS, CURRENCIES AND STAMPS\” called \’MUDRA – 2012\’ from 3rd Feb to 5th Feb 2012.  A Special cover on \”HERITAGE LANDMARKS OF KOZHIKODE\’ with the images of \’Matri Dei Cathedral – Tali Shiva Temple – Mishkal Mosque\’ which shows National Integrity.  \”Taram : Silver coins of the Zamorin Raja\” also incorporated on the cover.  On cancellation Mahatma Gandhi,  Victoryimage took from 2 Rs coin and an edge of currency.

The \”Matri dei Cathedral\” of Kozhikode, build by the Portuguses, is an important center of worship.  The \”Tali Siva Temple\” is one of the temples patronized by the Zamorins, erstwhile rulers of Kozhikode and to this day remains one of the most important spiritual and cultural centers of Kozhikode The \”Mishkal Mosque\” located in Kuttichira, Kozhikode is one of the oldest mosques in Kerala.  It was built 650 years ago by an Arab merchant, Nakhooda Mishkal, after whom it is named.
