Special Cover Released on Vishnupad Temple and Pinddaan from Gaya

Two days Stamps Festival is organized in Holy City Gaya from 4th Feb to 5th Feb2012. The stamps festival was inagurated by Commissioner Gaya among jubiliant atmosphere. A Special Cover was released on the theme of Religion depicting most reverred Temple of Gaya which is known as VISHNU PAD Temple.  The Vishnupad Temple at Gaya in Bihar located along the Falgu River is about 225 years old with the present day structuere which was rebuilt by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar, the ruler of Indore in 1787 with large grey granite blocks jointed with iron clamps. The foot prints of Lord Vishnu marked in the Temple is known as\” DHARAMSHILA\”.\”SHRADH KARMA\” or \” PIND-DAAN\” at Gaya is performed for salvation of spirits of ancestors.
