Governor Unveils New Stamp

\"\"New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez unveiled on Sept. 7, the new U.S. postage stamp commemorating New Mexico’s Centennial of Statehood in 2012. According to a prepared statement, the image featured on the first-class “Forever” stamp was created by Doug West of Arroyo Seco.“West’s image, title ‘Sanctuary’ is a view of the Río Puerco looking northeast at sunset. The Río Puerco is a tributary of the Río Grande and flows west of Albuquerque … The unique New Mexico image by artist Doug West will represent our state well, throughout the nation and across the world,’” the Gov. is quoted in the statement.Look for the new stamp on New Mexico Statehood Day, Jan. 6, 2012
