Czech Republic :Stamp on Historical Organs – Plasy

\"\"Czech Republic issued a stamp on special musical organ Plasy on 14th Sep 2011.The organ at the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady in the Cistercian Monastery in Plasy is a unique early Baroque instrument. Built in 1688 by leading Czech organ builder Abraham Stark from Loket, it had 29 registers and is still counted among the largest organs in the Czech Republic. The first large restoration event in the late 18th century involved a significant change of the overall shape of the instrument. The next partial restoration came in the early 20th century.The organ was last played in 2000 before it entered its next overall reconstruction and restoration project in 2004-2006.
