Endangered Bird Species on Liechtenstein WWF Stamps

\"\"To mark the 50 years of the WWF anniversary, the Philatelie Liechtenstein has brought out  eight beautiful stamps on “Endangered bird species in Liechtenstein” on 9th September, 2011. The birds shown on the stamps are; nightingale, wryneck, falco subbuteo,  the common redstart, the pygmy own, the red-backed shrike, the golden oriole and the whinchat. The stamps are hexagonal and self-adhesive.  The WWF panda logo is moreover printed on each stamp.The WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) was founded in Switzerland on 29th April, 1961, as  “World Wildlife Fund.  In 1986, the name was altered to “World Wide Fund for Nature” and the world-famous panda logo, which has become the world-wide symbol of environmental protection, was however retained. It has now become one of the biggest environmental bodies operating world-wide, with some 60 national sections and 4000 staff supporting more than 2000 nature and environmental protection projects in about 100 countries.
