Schoolpex 2011 Begins in Jaipur

Philatelic Society of Rajasthan and St. Xavier’s School jointly held 15th Inter School State Level Stamp Exhibition Schoolpex – 2011 at Junior Hall, St Xavier’s School,  Jaipur from 26th to 29th Aug from 10:30 Am to 1:00 PM.The  function was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Singh IPS (Chief Postmaster General, Rajasthan Circle). The Other members present were Father John Ravi SJ Patron of Schoolpex, Rajesh Paharia General Secretary of Philatelic Society of Rajasthan and P. M. Bhargava President of Philatelic Society of Rajasthan. Mr. Rajeev Singh IPS CPMG Rajasthan Circle inaugurated the function and released a picture post card on Dr. D. S. Kothari and and gave new ideas related to the betterment of king of hobbies. He showed keen interest in the philately and said that new counter will be setup in the schools of Jaipur and first day covers and folders will be given on this counters. Additional information about the upcoming issues will be displayed here. General Secretary, Rajesh Paharia gave the valuable information about Dr. D. S. Kothari and his works.


Students from 20 schools and from all over Rajasthan participated in the event and displayed their collections. Age group from 6 – 17 were present there. Stamps on various themes and country wise could be seen. Certain philatelists also turned up to boost the exhibition. The same were seen selling stamps to students on the counters set up by the school authority. The exhibition lasted till the noontime and a lot of activities took place. Students from different school were present there and the place looked colorful as each one of them displayed different color of their uniforms. An excellent approach towards enhancement of philately among the youngsters. Everyone present appreciated the same but a bit of advertisement to bring more crowds would have been a great idea. Still three days left, let’s stick together and follow the exhibition.
