US to Issue Billy Wilder stamp in Next Year

\"\"U.S. Postal Service will issue a stamp next year honoring late Hollywood director Billy Wilder, as part of a series remembering America\’s great directors.The series is issued to honor \”filmmakers who captured the many varieties of the American experience.The Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.Featuring the iconic Marilyn Monroe, the background art on the Wilder stamp was inspired by the 1959 farce \”Some Like It Hot\”, which starred Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis as two male musicians who seek refuge from gangsters by posing as members of an all-girl band, featuring a luscious singer played by Monroe.Wilder received a best director Oscar nomination and shared a best adapted screenplay nomination with I.A.L. Diamond for \”Some Like It Hot.\”
