Angola:Stamp on Southern Africa Development Community

\"\"A stamp to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) was launched last week in Luanda(Angola) by the Angolan post office at a ceremony attended by the ministers of the 15 delegations at the Summit of Heads of State and Government in Luanda, the Angolan capital.Speaking to the press, the Angolan deputy minister for Telecommunications, Aristides Safeca, said that the stamps would circulate in the region.He said that the stamps would also carry memories of the summit in Luanda to the international philatelists besides being a vehicle of communication and culture between peoples.

The SADC came into existence in 1992. It was preceded by the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC), which was formed in Lusaka, Zambia, on 1 April, 1980.The 31 years of the organization, therefore, refer to the year the former SADCC was formed.
